What is e-Air Waybill (e-AWB)?

e-Air Waybill (e-AWB) is the electronic form of the paper air waybill that constitutes the contract of carriage between the carrier (airline) and the shipper (freight forwarder).

e-AWB is the default contract of carriage for air cargo shipments carried by Singapore Airlines on enabled trade lanes.

Key steps to implement e-AWB

Freight Forwarder to sign the IATA multilateral e-AWB agreement - this enables them to legally conclude the conditions of contract electronically with the airline.

Freight Forwarder’s system to support the following functions in the IATA Cargo-IMP or Cargo-XML message standards:

? Transmit the FWB (e-AWB) message
? Receive freight status message (FSU)

 - FSU/FOH (Freight-on-Hand)
 - FSU/RCS (Ready-for-Carriage)

? Receive the acknowledgement message (FMA)
? Receive the reject messsage (FNA)

Freight Forwarder to provide good quality data in the FWB message to the airline.

Freight forwarder to contact the airline to send an Activation Notice (AN) to enable the e-AWB process between the 2 parties.
